How a Thanksgiving Experiment Became Our Best-Selling Honey Bourbon Pie

Sometimes the best desserts happen by accident and our Honey Bourbon Pie is a sweet (and slightly boozy) example of that.

This pie started out as a classic pecan pie… minus the pecans. As much as I love them, my husband and a good portion of his family just aren’t fans of nuts in desserts. So one Thanksgiving, I decided to tweak my favorite pecan pie recipe and simply leave the pecans out.

A Happy Baking Accident

But then, mid-recipe, I hit another snag — I was out of corn syrup. In a pinch, I reached for the jar of honey we had in the pantry and crossed my fingers. The result? A rich, gooey, caramelized filling that set up beautifully and had the perfect amount of warmth from a splash of bourbon.

From that happy accident came one of my absolute favorite creations, and now our best-selling pie.

Made with Local Hutto Honey 🍯

What truly takes this pie over the top is the local honey from Tiny Feet Farm, right here in Hutto, TX. Their honey adds a deep floral sweetness that balances the bourbon beautifully and gives this pie its signature shine and smooth, buttery flavor.

It’s sweet, sticky, a little smoky from the bourbon, and completely pecan-free so even the nut-averse folks can enjoy it.

The Perfect Pie for Every Season

While I make this most often in the fall (because let’s face it, it tastes like autumn), it’s honestly good all year round. Whether you’re bringing dessert to a family holiday, surprising a friend with a sweet treat, or just need a pie to celebrate making it through Monday, this one delivers every time.

  • 🥧 Full 9" pie (perfect for sharing... or not)

A Slice of Praise

💬 “Brought this to our family Christmas and was told ‘this is the best pie I’ve ever had’ multiple times!” – Meredith

We love hearing that kind of feedback, especially when a simple kitchen experiment turns into a dessert people remember and request again and again.
