Thanksgiving has a way of making the kitchen feel smaller with every passing hour.
The turkey needs attention, someone is looking for the serving spoons, you’ve somehow used every available inch of counter space, and dessert is still sitting there on the to-do list.
If you’d rather spend that time with your people than rolling out pie dough, Happy Hippo Bakery can take that part off your plate.
Thanksgiving pie preorders open Saturday, October 3, 2026, and close Sunday, November 15, or earlier if I reach capacity.
That means you can get dessert figured out well before Thanksgiving week. Future you—the one juggling oven space and a sink full of dishes—may be especially grateful.
What pies are on the Thanksgiving menu?
This year, I’m offering four whole pies:
Honey Bourbon Pie
This one actually started because my husband’s family loves the gooey filling of pecan pie…but they aren’t big fans of the actual pecans. So I took the nuts out, and Honey Bourbon Pie was born. It has since become a Happy Hippo favorite.
Honey Bourbon Pecan Pie
For the people who correctly believe the pecans belong right where they are. You get that sweet, gooey honey bourbon filling with pecans on top.
Chocolate Chess Pie
A rich chocolate option for the person at your Thanksgiving table who politely passes on pumpkin every year and waits for something chocolate to appear.
Pumpkin Pie
Because sometimes Thanksgiving really does need pumpkin pie.
Each is a 9-inch pie that serves about 12, depending on how generous your family is with slices. No judgment if “about 12” becomes eight.
And if your family has strong dessert opinions—and Thanksgiving families often do—you can always order more than one flavor.
How do Thanksgiving pie preorders work?
I’ve tried to make this part as easy as possible.
Head to happyhippobakery.com/holiday, choose the pies you want, and add them to your cart.
At checkout, you’ll select your Thanksgiving pickup day:
Tuesday, November 24
or
Wednesday, November 25
Pickup is here in Hutto, and you’ll receive the exact pickup details after ordering.
Preorders officially close Sunday, November 15, but I do have a limited amount of baking capacity. If I reach that limit before the deadline, ordering may close early.
So if you already know Honey Bourbon Pie has a place at your Thanksgiving table, there’s no prize for waiting until November 15.
Why order Thanksgiving pie from a local baker?
Listen, I live in Texas. I’m not going to pretend H-E-B is the enemy.
There are absolutely years when grabbing a pie during your grocery run is exactly what makes sense.
But ordering from a local baker gives you a slightly different Thanksgiving dessert experience.
First, your pie is planned.
You’re not walking into the store the day before Thanksgiving hoping the flavor you wanted is still sitting on the shelf. You picked your pie weeks ago, chose your pickup day, and already know dessert is handled.
Second, you’re getting something made by a baker whose actual job is to care about how it turns out.
I’m thinking about the crust. I’m thinking about the filling. I’m thinking about whether the thing I’m handing you is something I’d be happy to put on my own family’s Thanksgiving table.
And yes, when you order from Happy Hippo, you’re also supporting a small Hutto business.
You certainly don’t have to shop local for every single thing on your Thanksgiving table. But if dessert is one of the places where you’d like something made locally, I would be very happy to bake it for you.
One little storage note before Thanksgiving
Once you pick up your pies, make sure you know where they’re going.
Pumpkin Pie needs to be refrigerated. The other Thanksgiving pies can be kept at room temperature. You can also check the individual product page for the storage information for the pie you ordered.
This is worth thinking about before pickup because Thanksgiving-week refrigerators tend to become a competitive sport.
Making room ahead of time is much easier than arriving home with a nine-inch pie and realizing a turkey, three casseroles, six beverages, and somebody’s mystery container have claimed every shelf.
Let me take pie off your Thanksgiving list
There are plenty of things you’ll still have to figure out for Thanksgiving.
Who’s bringing the rolls?
Did someone remember cranberry sauce?
Why are there never enough serving spoons?
Where is everyone going to sit?
Pie doesn’t have to be one of those questions.
