A few useful details can make the process much easier.
Start with your event date
Your date is one of the first things I need to know.
Before we get too far into flavors, colors, or design details, I need to make sure I have availability for your celebration.
Fall dates in particular can book quickly, especially on weekends.
If you know your date, include it in your first message.
Give your best guest estimate
Next, tell me approximately how many people you need to serve.
It does not have to be exact.
If RSVPs are still coming in, just let me know.
Your estimated serving count helps determine whether a smaller cake, larger round, tiered cake, or combination of desserts will make the most sense.
Tell me about the other desserts
Are you serving cake only?
Will there also be cupcakes, cookies, cake pops, or other desserts?
That information matters when we’re deciding how much cake you actually need.
A cake serving 20 people as the only dessert may need to be planned differently from a cake sitting in the middle of a full dessert table.
Show me what you’re picturing
Inspiration photos are incredibly helpful.
You can send a cake you love, a few different designs, party decorations, invitations, a color palette, or even a photo that simply captures the mood you want.
The goal isn’t necessarily to copy another cake exactly.
I’m looking at things like color, piping style, shape, texture, florals, decorations, and the overall feeling of the design.
Sometimes the most useful inspiration photo isn’t even a cake.
You don’t have to know everything yet
You may not know your exact flavor.
You may still be deciding between two designs.
Your final guest count might not be ready.
That doesn’t mean you need to wait.
The first inquiry is simply the beginning of the conversation.
Once I know your date, serving needs, and general direction, we can work through the remaining details together.
What happens after you inquire?
After I receive your information, I’ll review the date and order details and determine what makes sense for the design and serving needs you described.
We may clarify a few details before finalizing your quote.
Once the order details are settled and payment is completed, your date is officially secured and I can begin planning your cake.
The goal is to make the process feel clear—not like you need to know bakery terminology before you’re allowed to ask a question.
